Disable Windows Scanner Wizard

January 24, 2011 - Windows XP

Ok seems simple enough right? If you want to disable the Windows Scanner Wizard disable the Windows Image Acquisition service.

This is so you can use the standard TWAIN driver instead of having to deal with the stupid wizard that wants to help you acquire your image. You know because Windows wants to help! It wants to hold your hand and walk with you! It wants to be your friend, and help you make the right decisions. OH CRAP can’t I just use the computer? Why does EVERYTHING have to be dumbed down? If users would read a little bit maybe they would understand what they are doing? PLEASE stop trying to make computers idiot proof? It’s pointless!  It’s never going to happen, just let them learn or else just let them get out their wallet so they can pay someone who actually took 15 minutes to read! I find it interesting that the more dummy proof things become the more complicated they end up.
